Navigation of Government Services
Navigation of Government Services
We serve seniors and their families across Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, and the broader Essex County area, with a focus on helping them confidently navigate local, provincial, and federal government services and community programs.
Provide one-on-one service navigation for seniors and caregivers, including help understanding and accessing government benefits such as Old Age Security, CPP, GIS, Ontario Disability Support Program, Ontario Drug Benefit, Assistive Devices Program, and local tax or utility relief programs where applicable.
Help families in Windsor-Essex, Tecumseh, and LaSalle connect with community supports like seniors’ active living programs, falls-prevention and wellness education, social clubs, day programs, and caregiver supports so loved ones can stay independent and engaged longer.
Offer guidance on health and home-care navigation, including primary care, specialist referrals, home and community care, and local hospital or rehab resources, so seniors understand who to call and what to ask at each step.
Provide clear, accessible print and online guides tailored to seniors and caregivers, with step-by-step instructions for getting or replacing ID, applying for income supports, setting up direct deposit, and understanding coverage for medications, dental, vision, and medical equipment.
Offer patient, one-on-one assistance by phone, virtual appointments, or in-person visits to review forms, gather required documents, complete applications, and track next steps, reducing stress and avoiding missed benefits or deadlines.
Whenever possible, act as a single point of contact for the family, coordinating information, organizing paperwork, and helping communicate with multiple agencies so seniors are not repeating their story over and over.
Tailor information to local Windsor-Essex programs, including senior centers, social and recreation programs, wellness workshops, and age-friendly initiatives that keep older adults connected and active close to home.
Highlight opportunities in Tecumseh and LaSalle, such as seniors’ active living and wellness activities, technology support, and social programs, and help seniors register or arrange transportation when needed.
Stay informed about local grants, pilot programs, and municipal or community initiatives for older adults, so families receive up-to-date referrals and do not miss new supports as they become available.
